How to watch short dramas on your TV

Short dramas are made for phones, but you can put one on a TV in a minute: mirror your iPhone with AirPlay, cast your Android screen with the Google Home app, or cast a Chrome tab from a computer. Because the episodes are vertical, expect a tall picture in the middle of the screen with black bars at the sides.

Steps below come from Apple’s and Google’s own help pages, checked on 29 October 2026. They mirror whatever is on your screen, including a short drama playing in a browser at binge.tube.

From an iPhone or iPad (AirPlay)

Apple’s steps for mirroring to an Apple TV, an AirPlay-compatible smart TV or a Mac:

  • Put the iPhone or iPad on the same Wi-Fi network as the TV.
  • Open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right corner on iPhone X or later).
  • Tap Screen Mirroring and choose your TV. Enter the passcode if the TV shows one.
  • To stop, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then Stop Mirroring.

From an Android phone (Google Home)

Google’s steps for a Chromecast or Google TV device (Android 8.0 or later):

  • Put the phone on the same Wi-Fi network as your Google streaming device.
  • Open the Google Home app and tap Favorites or Devices.
  • Touch and hold the tile of the device you want to cast to.
  • Tap Cast, then Cast my screen.

Google: cast your Android screen

From a computer (Chrome)

Google’s steps for casting a tab: open Chrome, open the page you want to show, then at the top right choose More › Cast, save, and share › Cast…, and pick your TV. Google notes the sound then plays only on the TV. Casting a tab is better than casting the whole screen, because with a whole screen the audio might stay on the computer.

No Chromecast? An HDMI cable from a laptop to the TV works with any browser.

What about the apps?

Some video apps don’t support AirPlay, as Apple’s page notes, and none of the five biggest short drama apps we read (ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax, NetShort, GoodShort) mentions casting or AirPlay in its App Store description. A ShortMax App Store reviewer asked to be able to cast to a TV, and ShortMax replied that its team was brainstorming ways to add a casting option. Screen mirroring works regardless, because it copies the whole screen.

BingeTube has no TV app either. It is a website, so you can open binge.tube in Chrome on a computer and cast the tab, or mirror your phone.

Tips for a better picture

  • Start the episode, then go full screen on the phone before you mirror, so the TV shows the video and not the page around it.
  • Turn the phone’s screen lock off or longer while you watch, or mirroring stops when the phone sleeps.
  • Short dramas are filmed in portrait (9:16), so a widescreen TV will show black bars on both sides; that is the format, not a fault.
  • Keep the phone plugged in: Google suggests battery saver for long screen casts.

Start with something short

A whole short drama often takes about an hour (the median BingeTube series is 63 minutes), so it makes a good evening on the big screen. Episodes 1–5 of every series are free with a free account; then $1.99 for the first week and $9.99 a month, or $4.99 for one series. No ads, no coins.

Questions

Can I watch short dramas on my TV?

Yes. Mirror your iPhone with AirPlay, cast your Android screen with the Google Home app, cast a Chrome tab from a computer, or connect a laptop with HDMI.

Why are there black bars on the TV?

Short dramas are filmed vertically for phones (9:16), so on a widescreen TV the picture sits in the middle with bars on each side.

Does BingeTube have a TV app?

No. BingeTube is a website: open binge.tube in Chrome on a computer and cast the tab, or mirror your phone to the TV.

Why is there no sound on my TV when I cast my computer screen?

Google notes that when you cast your whole screen the audio might play on the computer; cast the Chrome tab instead to send the sound to the TV.
