My Ex-Wife Called Me Worthless — Then the Mafia Donna Made Me Her Husband

The story of My Ex-Wife Called Me Worthless — Then the Mafia Donna Made Me Her Husband

On the night Lucas Greco signs his divorce papers, he walks away with one duffel bag and thirty-six dollars. For two years he helped raise his ex-wife's nephew, only to be called a freeloader by her family, who said he had no money, no status and no connections. Wandering the rainy streets, he spots a flyer taped to a pole: a stepdad wanted for a child, room and board included.

The ad leads him straight into the mansion of the Corleones, one of the oldest mafia families. The butler is clear that Miss Corleone wants a father for her child, not a husband for herself, and that suits Lucas perfectly. Then he meets Serafina Corleone herself, the most powerful figure in New York's mafia world, who greets him by tipping his chin up with a pistol before walking away without a word.

Her young son Marco wants nothing to do with another uncle and hides under the dinner table. Lucas wins him over the only way he knows, by turning spinach into a superhero battle between Armored Hero and Starshield Hero, and Serafina smiles for the first time. That night he moves into the estate, where the rules are strict: everything stays separate, and no one ever goes up to the Donna's third floor. But as Serafina explains why Marco trusts no man, Lucas feels his heart skip a beat.
