The story of After Divorce, I Became the Mafia Don’s Hired Husband

After three years of caring for his wife's whole family, Gabriel is thrown out with an old travel bag and thirty-six dollars. His ex-wife mocks his looks, his country background and the fact that all he does is cook and look after children. With nowhere to go, he answers an odd job flyer and finds himself at the estate of Valentina Moretti, the head of one of New York's oldest mafia families.

She is not looking for a husband. She needs a father for her four-year-old son, Nico, who was kidnapped by her enemies when he was younger and now lashes out at strangers. Thirteen nannies have given up on him. Gabriel wins Nico over at dinner by turning his vegetables into a contest only a little hero could win.

Valentina offers Gabriel a legal marriage with a prenup, separate finances, a salary of $100,000 a month and one firm rule: he lives on the second floor, and he must never go up to hers on the third. For Nico's sake, she wants a bond that won't disappear. Three days after his divorce, Gabriel is married again, with no wedding and no congratulations, to a woman feared across the city.

Episode 3

Valentina explains that Nico was traumatized by a kidnapping and offers Gabriel a legal marriage, a prenup and a $100,000 monthly salary. He agrees, as long as each keeps to their own floor.
