He Called Me Fat the Don Called Me Wife

The story of He Called Me Fat the Don Called Me Wife

Adele Moretti has spent ten years participating in a traditional annual drawing that determines which unmarried women in her family may board their fiancé's boat and marry. Despite her loyalty and hope, Adele repeatedly draws the white slip, symbolizing another year of waiting, while enduring ridicule about her weight and appearance. She also learns that Bella is favored by Vito and his family, deepening Adele's humiliation. Despite past confrontations and suffering—including being tied up and forced into the water by Vito's men—Adele resolves to take control.
