The Three Serpents Didn’t Want Me, the Fox Picked Me Up

The story of The Three Serpents Didn’t Want Me, the Fox Picked Me Up

Alaric Ashford rescues three dying snake shifters—Selene, Freya, and Nyx—and raises them with care. As they mature into women, they cling to him relentlessly, draining his energy and demanding constant attention. Despite his efforts, the snake shifters begin to see Alaric as weak and unworthy, plotting to exhaust him until he gives them up. Meanwhile, Alaric's younger brother, Dorian, a charismatic and magnetic figure, arrives unexpectedly, drawing the snake shifters' attention away from Alaric.

Alaric realizes the snake shifters prefer Dorian's charm and vitality, leaving him feeling like a second choice. Exhausted and disheartened, Alaric decides to relinquish the snake shifters to Dorian and instead asks for Dorian's fox shifter, Chloe, hoping for a different kind of companionship. Dorian has moved in with the three snake shifters, and the atmosphere in Alaric's home has grown tense and cold. The snake shifters' warmth toward Alaric has vanished, and they openly discuss their preference for Dorian. Alaric prepares to find solace with the fox shifter who is ready to show him what it means to be chosen.
