Mommy, I’m Never a Liar

The story of Mommy, I’m Never a Liar

Lily and her twin sister Alana wear Truth Collars that glow green for honesty and red for lies. Their mother trusts Alana’s steady green light without question and punishes shy Lily every time her collar flashes red. Despite Lily’s pleas and visible pain, her mother believes she is faking and punishes her harshly. On Christmas Eve, when Lily falls seriously ill and her collar blinks red, her mother leaves her home alone and takes Alana to see fireworks.

Lily’s pain worsens as she is locked in her room with no food, while Alana denies taking snacks with her green collar glowing. Lily’s collar remains red, leading to further punishment and isolation. Struggling with pain and self-doubt, Lily writes a confession in her journal, hoping for forgiveness and help. After finishing, she feels her pain fade but realizes she has died, her collar still flashing red. She never learns how to be an honest girl and dies without ever being believed by her mother.
