Lyra, a member of the wealthy Veil family in Wonder Paws City, dies alone and unloved in a psychiatric hospital after enduring betrayal and neglect from her family and fiancé. Upon death, she visits the Soul Shop and bargains away her ability to love in exchange for a second chance at life. She awakens four years in the past, surrounded by her cold family and the adopted sister Nova, who has taken her place in their parents' affections and her twin brother Lucian's loyalty.
