My Family Chose Her and Lost Me Forever

The story of My Family Chose Her and Lost Me Forever

Anna Mercer grows up feeling overshadowed by Lily, a girl her family adopted after the death of Lily's father, Daniel Bennett, in a construction accident where Anna's father was involved. The family celebrates Lily's acceptance into Parker's School of Design with a special birth-year bottle of wine, a tradition that Anna's own bottle, set aside at her birth, has mysteriously disappeared. Anna's achievements, including a full scholarship to Westbridge University, go unnoticed, and even her boyfriend Ethan sides with Lily. The family's favoritism is rooted in a debt they feel they owe Lily's late father.

As Lily prepares for college life in New York, the family continues to prioritize her needs, including a generous monthly allowance, despite financial strain. Anna feels increasingly alienated, realizing she has been sacrificing her own happiness to repay a debt that was never hers. Anna is silent and isolated at the family table, having accepted an overseas scholarship and decided to leave home for good.
