Everyone Chose My Sister, So I Disappeared

The story of Everyone Chose My Sister, So I Disappeared

Melanie has always lived in the shadow of her sister Naomi, who is the center of attention in their family. Despite her efforts, Melanie is routinely overlooked—her birthday goes unnoticed, her messages ignored, and even family photos exclude her. Her boyfriend Nathan knows Naomi's coffee order perfectly but has never asked about hers, highlighting the emotional distance between them. At a birthday party meant to celebrate Naomi, Melanie quietly accepts a dream job offer from a design studio in Zurich, deciding to leave without telling anyone.

As Melanie prepares to disappear from her family’s life, she leaves behind personalized gifts for each family member, symbolizing her hope for recognition that never came. Naomi and the others remain unaware of Melanie’s plans, continuing to exclude her emotionally and physically. Melanie’s departure is imminent, marking her decision to stop waiting to be chosen and to start anew on her own terms. The story begins with the premise that Melanie, tired of being overlooked, chooses to disappear rather than remain invisible.
