Owen is the cast-off heir of the Hale family and the sole disciple of the Dragon Knight Sanctum's master. Though initially powerless, he unlocks six rings of the Dragon God's mark, a level only a sanctuary master has ever reached, showing talent that rivals his master. Despite his achievements, Owen faces disdain and betrayal from his family, who doubt his abilities and question his lineage.

After surviving the Dragon's Hollow and gaining a master, Owen prepares to leave and enter the Moonlight City selection, a prestigious event to choose future sanctuary masters. His half-brother Ellis, favored by their father, is also set to participate, with Lord Ferris, a high-ranking dragon knight, personally endorsing Ellis. As Owen returns home, he is determined to prove his worth and reclaim his place, setting the stage for a confrontation between him and his kin.
