The Cold King’s Secret Dragon Twins

The story of The Cold King’s Secret Dragon Twins

In the five years since the king took the throne, three noble women have claimed to carry his heir, and each time he has known at a glance that the baby was not his. Now Lady Lydia Winter is said to be carrying the royal heir. If she delivers a lawful successor, she will be crowned queen, and the crimes of House Winter may be pardoned. But Lydia has not come for mercy: her father was branded a traitor and the Winter lands fell to the king.

Then Lydia gives birth, not to an ordinary baby but to twin black dragons. If the church finds out, she and the children will be dragged before a tribunal. Just as the king demands that the door be opened, Lydia has her maid, Nora, hide the babies.

Facing the cold, formidable king, Lydia tells a desperate lie: there is no child. She claims she was never pregnant at all, blames months of cake and jelly desserts for a terrible stomachache, and points out that Dr. Brian, the physician who diagnosed her, has already been executed. The king has her examined, and the doctor admits her pulse does not match a woman who just gave birth.

Furious, the king removes Lydia from the queen candidacy and confines her to the former queen's tower, where no one has lived in over ten years. It is a wreck, but no one is watching. First she must stay alive. Revenge can come later.
