Ivy Winters has a frightening gift: whenever she wishes harm on someone, it comes true. For twenty-two years she has kept quiet to protect everyone around her, including the Winters family who adopted her. Ivy’s life is comfortable, supported by her adoptive brother Nicholas, an executive director at their family business, and her boyfriend Julian Ashford. Just one week before her college graduation, Ivy’s world is shaken when her adoptive parents reveal they found the real Winters daughter, Gianna Harlow, Ivy’s college classmate and former best friend from the orphanage.

Gianna’s arrival ignites conflict within the family. Ivy is accused of spreading rumors out of jealousy and is ordered to reflect on her actions. Despite her adoptive mother Margaret’s pleas to apologize and accept Gianna, Ivy refuses, feeling betrayed and silenced. Meanwhile, Gianna, who is pregnant with Julian’s child, struggles with her own misfortune and collapses in distress.
