Lost Queen of the Ice

The story of Lost Queen of the Ice

Little Piper Novak is born to skate. At the opening of the Novak Skate Academy, her parents, Claudia and Victor, proudly show off their future champion, and Piper promises to win Olympic gold. She races a hockey-loving boy who calls her Tinkerbell and who already wants to marry her one day. Watching from the crowd, a struggling woman and her daughter, Brooke, wonder why some girls get everything.

Then an avalanche tears through the celebration. In the chaos, the Novaks lose Piper, and the rescuers find an unidentified girl in shock who will not speak. The woman sees her chance. She persuades the grieving Novaks to foster the silent girl, her own daughter Brooke, so that Brooke will get the mansion, the training and the medals. Then she finds the real Piper, dazed and unable to remember anything, and tells her that her name is Brooke and that she is her mother now.

Thirteen years later, Piper is broke and works as a janitor at an ice rink, scrubbing floors and polishing other people's skates. She still has an uncanny gift for skating and dreams of qualifying for the Olympics, while Brooke is living the life that was meant for Piper. On her eighteenth birthday, the woman who raised her ties her up and tries to force her into a dangerous arrangement with a stranger for money, telling her that dreams are only for girls with rich parents. But the ice still remembers who Piper really is.
