Locked Together

The story of Locked Together

A month ago, Evan Reid was unloading crates at the docks. Now he is serving eight years for killing a man he says he never even saw. In prison, even a mattress, soap and a spoon can be taken from him by force, and when he complains to Jones, he learns that the rules favor whoever pays.

After a fight over his belongings, Evan is moved to block seven and put in a cell with Damon Cross, a feared inmate the others expect to finish him off. Cross makes it clear that nothing in the cell is shared, and Evan starts counting the nights he will have to spend beside him.

Outside the cell, the prison runs on humiliation and threats. In the dining hall, no one will let Evan sit down, and a gang demands that he pay for his peace. He refuses to give in. When their attack on him ends with blood on Cross's book, Cross turns on them instead, and Evan survives by luck. He decides his only chance is to stay close to the one man everyone else fears.
