I Taught a Siren to Court Now I'm Carrying His Egg

The story of I Taught a Siren to Court Now I'm Carrying His Egg

Evan, a researcher assigned to Emerald Atoll, studies the elusive Murphid, a deep-sea merman species. He encounters Ebonni, a solitary and powerful male with black hair, green eyes, and a black and gold tail nearly eight feet long. Ebonni is an apex predator but has never participated in the traditional courtship dance or song of his kind, likely due to being separated from his family and raised alone.

Evan, motivated by both compassion and his academic thesis, teaches Ebonni the courtship dance and plays courtship songs. Ebonni quickly learns the dance and speaks clearly, revealing unexpected intelligence. However, Evan's professor warns him that Ebonni is a siren-like predator whose mating involves capturing and imprisoning a mate until they bear his child. Despite the warning, Evan's lessons lead to a misunderstanding: Ebonni interprets the courtship as a personal proposal, and Evan soon finds himself in a dangerous situation.

By the third month of the breeding season, Ebonni still has no mate. Evan tries to help by teaching him courtship songs, but Ebonni destroys the speaker in frustration. The story ends with Evan caught between his scientific ambitions and the perilous reality of Ebonni's nature, setting the stage for an unusual and complicated relationship.
