The story of From Discarded Orphan to Viking King

As a boy, an orphan proves his courage by facing down danger, and the Viking King himself, Harun Selvig, takes notice. Harun gives him the blade he earned when he became king, a symbol of courage and strength, and the blade glows in the boy's hands as if it has chosen him. From that day, the orphan has a reason to live and swears to become a warrior worth remembering.

Dragons are ravaging the Viking lands, and Harun leads his warriors across the sea to hunt them, taking three orphans with him to raise as his own and train as Viking warriors. His son, Prince Treven, resents every hardship.

Years later, Harun is weakened and hiding it, while Olaf Tormund and his second clan wait for any sign of weakness to seize power. Harun's advisers urge him to hand the throne to Treven, but Harun refuses. Treven loves power but does not understand its cost. Then word comes that Olaf's men have captured Treven and plan to put his head on their banner.

It is a trap, and Treven built it. He has secretly made a deal with Olaf, offering Blackvale Mine and Nordhaven Port in exchange for killing his father, so that Treven can return a wounded hero and claim the throne. When Harun arrives to save him, Treven reveals his betrayal and orders his father killed. The Vikings desperately need a true hero, and the orphan who was given the king's blade will one day return commanding dragons.
