The story of After He Played Dead, I Married the Don

Seven years after he was declared dead, Tony Marchetti walks into a charity gala alive. He faked his death to teach his wife, Elena, a lesson: his mother made him marry her, and he blames Elena for the lonely years of his sister-in-law, Bianca Ferraro, whom he always wanted. Now he tells his friends he will only take Elena back if she kneels and apologizes to Bianca, and he laughs as they mock her as a widow pining for him.

Tony has no idea what his disappearance cost. The night he vanished, his crew was ambushed and killed, and the commission decided he had sold them out. A hit was put on the whole Marchetti family. His father and mother died, and Elena, eight months pregnant, begged for days to clear the family's name, then lost her baby when one of Tony's enemies ran her down.

Only Don Dante Castellano helped her, burying the scandal on one condition: that she marry him. Tony is a gatecrasher at this gala, the first party Donna Castellano has ever thrown, and the woman he keeps ordering to crawl home is the Don's wife.
